Join our Talented Toronto Chefs for Recreational or Private Cooking Classes.

Enjoy delicious food and great conversation while learning the cooking secrets of our talented and soon-to-be famous chefs.

All classes are "Hands-On" and "Interactive".

  • Classes are approximately 3 hours long
  • Most classes include a minimum of 3 recipes and will constitute a complete meal
  • We use an interactive team approach where up to 6 people at a time work with the chef preparing a particular recipe. The Chef will coach the team, whereby each team member is assigned one of several tasks/steps that are required to complete the recipe. The team will do everything from chopping to plating ....but we do the dishes!
  • Wine and beer are available for purchase

Our intimate Recreational Cooking Classes are limited to fourteen guests, so that everyone has a chance to join in and interact with the chef. It is fun, educational, and always an experience to be remembered. Take home tips, recipes and discover a new confidence in the kitchen.

CLASSIC MEETS MODERN FRENCH CUISINE

Tuesday - January 3, 2017
6:30 PM

We have put together a great modern French class incorporating recipes from some of today's great French chefs. Your Chef Instructor will provide you with plenty of tips and tricks that are used in the best restaurants.

  • Classic French Onion Soup – a quick version of this classic winter soup.
  • Braised Chicken with Bacon, Onions, Green Olives and Carrots – braising is a classic technique that transforms simple proteins into wonderful comfort food. This recipe from Chef Daniel Boulud, can be made in under 90 minutes and our talented chef will walk you through all the steps.
  • Crepes Suzette - Chef Jaques Pepin's recipe for this classic dessert is quick and easy. It is so decadent you will be making it for your friends sooner than later.

ITALIAN COMFORT FOOD

Our House Chef Chef Gaetano Pugliese has put together these classic winter recipes that will be easy to recreate at home. Learn the tips and tips and tricks he learned from working in Italy and at his Nona's stove in Windsor.

  • Italian Wedding Soup - this is a delicious winter soup full of hearty ingredients; carrots, celery, orzo, spinach, chick peas and delightful little meatballs that can be on the table in 30 minutes!
  • Ravioli stuffed with Spinach and Ricotta Cheese – we will be making the pasta from scratch and rolling it out using a stand mixer attachment. Your chef instructor will show you how to stuff the ravioli with the rich spinach and ricotta mixture and we will serve it with a quick and easy tomato & basil sauce.
  • Deconstructed Tiramisu - this classic dessert typically takes several hours to prepare from start to finish. We will teach you how to prepare this in under an hour, while still producing the same marvelous flavours

Cancellation and Change Policy:

By purchasing a Cooking Class or Gift Certificate you agree to the terms and conditions of our Cancellation and Change Policy as stated below.

NO REFUNDS FOR CANCELLATIONS WILL BE GIVEN EXCEPT AS LISTED BELOW.  ALL SALES ARE FINAL.

We understand that life occasionally throws us curveballs, but please do not ask us to make exceptions, as your late cancellation does not allow us enough time to re-sell your seats.

 

1. More than 7 days’ notice to The Chef Upstairs by email or phone: 

  • No refunds. Students will be eligible to reschedule to future class.

2. Less than 7 days’ notice to The Chef Upstairs: 

  • No refunds or rescheduling will be allowed. Please have someone attend in your place.

3. No Notice: 

  • Where a student fails to inform The Chef Upstairs or fails to attend registered class –No Refunds or Rescheduling will be allowed.

4. Sickness or Illness: 

  • With less than 7 days notice, there are no exceptions for Sickness or Illness. NO Refunds and NO Rescheduling will be allowed.

5. Gift Certificate Use: 

  • If you intend to use a gift certificate for class payment and iare unable to attend a class, the above Cancellation policy is in effect. Failure to provide the minimum notice will result in cancellation of the Gift Certificate, regardless of the circumstances.
